304/304L Angle steel stainless steel

Both 304 and 304L stainless steel angles fall under the category of austenitic stainless steel and are commonly used in “L”-shaped cross-section stainless steel profiles in industry and construction. While their core composition and performance are highly correlated, their applications vary due to differences in carbon content.
As typical representatives of austenitic stainless steel, both possess the hallmark advantages of austenitic stainless steel, which underpin their widespread application:
1. Excellent Corrosion Resistance
The core composition contains 18%-20% chromium (Cr) and 8%-10.5% nickel (Ni). Chromium forms a dense chromium oxide passivation film on the profile surface, effectively resisting corrosion from the atmosphere, fresh water, and weak acids and alkalis (such as those found in household cleaners and food processing environments), preventing rust and far surpassing that of ordinary carbon steel or low-alloy stainless steel. 2. Excellent Machinability
◦ Cold Workability: The “L”-shaped cross-section can be formed through cold bending with high dimensional accuracy and is resistant to cracking after forming. It can be cut, drilled, welded (requires austenitic stainless steel welding wire, such as ER308L), and polished, making it suitable for complex installation requirements.
◦ Hot Workability: It can withstand annealing and solution treatment (to relieve processing stresses), and its performance remains stable after hot working, with no noticeable brittleness.
3. Non-Magnetic (at Room Temperature)
At room temperature, it has a pure austenitic structure and is non-magnetic. It can be used in applications requiring “non-magnetic” properties (such as electronic equipment peripheral brackets and medical device accessories).
4. Excellent Mechanical Properties
With a tensile strength of approximately 515 MPa, a yield strength of approximately 205 MPa, and an elongation of ≥40%, it possesses both the strength to support structural loads and sufficient toughness to avoid brittle fracture, making it suitable for use as frames and support components.

Angle steel stainless steel

Product Introduction

1. Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances
ParameterSymbolUnitDescription
Leg WidthmmThe length of the two right – angled sides of the angle steel. For equal – leg angle steel, the two leg widths are equal; for unequal – leg angle steel, they are not equal.
Leg ThicknessmmThe thickness of the right – angled side.
Sectional AreaThe total area of the cross – section of the angle steel, which can be calculated according to the leg width and leg thickness.
Theoretical Weightkg/mCalculated according to the formula, it represents the weight per unit length of the angle steel.
Dimensional Tolerance of Leg WidthmmFor example, when the leg width is 20mm, the tolerance is ±1.0mm; when the leg width is 25 – 50mm, the tolerance is ±0.6mm.
Dimensional Tolerance of Leg ThicknessmmSuch as when the leg thickness is 3 – 6mm, the tolerance is ±0.4 – ±0.6mm.
Squareness°It should be 90°±2°.
Warpagemm/m≤3mm/m.
2. Mechanical Properties
ParameterSymbolUnitDescription
Tensile StrengthMPaThe maximum stress that the material can withstand during the tensile process.
Yield Strength or MPaThe stress at which the material begins to yield plastic deformation.
Elongation%The percentage of the increase in length after the material is broken during the tensile test compared to the original length.
HardnessHB or HRBUsed to measure the hardness of the material, such as Brinell hardness (HB) or Rockwell hardness (HRB).
